Report on the Photographic Trip to Slimbridge Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust

Eight PCC Members and two guests enjoyed the sunshine on a fieldtrip to Slimbridge Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust this August, and were pleased to be joined again by John Hines who was visiting with Geoff & Joyce Shaffer. Wildlife photography was for the majority a new challenge and a change from their usual field of work.

Plenty of interest was provided by Slimbridge's bird collection, and the new Wetlands mammal venture: the young Otters in particular. With the summer sun high in the sky, there may have been little activity on the open reserve - but that simply suggests that return trips need to be planned for Winter (Bewick swans) and Spring (breeding birds).

Time flew by as we waited for that perfect shot, against the perfect background. Then shared stories about the ones that got away. We left intending to return, and with an increased respect for the patience and skills of wildlife specialists.
